Acronis True Image 2020 and 2021 (Mac): System does not boot if only one partition was formatted before recovery

Symptoms

When recovering your Mac via Acronis rescue media, you have erased the system volume on the target disk by using Disk Utility prior to recovering the system. 

Recovery completes without errors, but the system does not boot after restore.        

Cause

Issue in the product.

This issue will be fixed in future versions of Acronis True Image.

Solution

As a workaround, erase the entire disk and format it as APFS before recovering your Mac:
